Can’t Delete Apps from Apple Watch? Check for Restrictions!

Applications, one of the most important element on any Apple products including iPhone, iPad, and your Apple Watch. Can you really imagine what will it be like using your favorite piece of technology without apps? I think it’s better not to use them at all.

Delete an app from Apple Watch or even on your iPhone can be tricky sometimes, especially for beginners. Unlike Windows or other operating systems, you don’t need to access the Control Panel and uninstall your apps from there. It’s very easy to uninstall apps from the Apple Watch.

‘X’ Doesn’t Appear

No particular method, no secret sauce just press and hold an app in the grid of circles and choose the X icon in the corner. After that, the application should disappear right away. But what happen with some users is that they were unable to delete their apps since the ‘X’ button wasn’t there.

This is very odd considering the app is coming from your Apple Watch. But don’t worry, we will get through this together.

Disable Restrictions

What you may not know is that the Restrictions feature is currently being enabled, that basically prevent users from deleting their Apple Watch apps.

On your iPhone, go to the Watch app, and visit Settings > General > Restrictions. If the option is available, turn it off. After this, you’re done. However, I’d recommend disabling Automatic App Install (General > App Install > toggle Automatic App Install to Off) because once the Restrictions is back in charge, it will reinstall your deleted apps.

Another useful feature you can find inside the official Watch app is the ability to remove apps from the Apple Watch directly from your iPhone.

When opening the Watch app, you should see a long list of installed applications (this depends on how much you’ve downloaded) and then tap on the specific application. Now look for Show App on Apple Watch and toggle it off.

Note: Just like on an iPhone or iPad, you can’t hide or remove stock apps, so don’t try at all.
